"Almost certainly," Essek concedes, amused. His voice is a purr, soft and pleased. "Still, I do not mind it. Loving you is no hardship, even when it is intensified this way."
He's mostly self-aware, at least. If anything, it has been interesting to note in his periods of relative lucidity how his heat has influenced his emotions, thoughts, and priorities even beyond the physical and sexual imperatives. When this has passed and he is entirely clear-headed again, he'll record his observations in order to be better prepared for next time--whenever that happens to be.
When Percy pulls out of him and lays back, taking him along, Essek is aware that the constant buzz of need fades quietly to the background, satisfied for the moment by their recent coupling and their current proximity. He mouths at the bruises he'd left along his husband's pale throat, soothing them with his lips and tongue, and finds that deeply satisfying.
Given Percival's earlier admiration of his body, however, Essek's thoughts have begun to travel idly in a similar direction. "You will still want to have sex when I am pregnant, I hope?" he asks absently, as the thought occurs. It would change his body quite dramatically. He doesn't anticipate Percival being the sort of man who would be put off by that, but still. He isn't prepared to give up their usual intimacy, and would much rather not have to.
Percival can't help a grin as Essek's lips and tongue soothe the bruises and bite marks he surely has. He'll wear them with pride. He likes the idea of other people noticing that he's been mauled by his beautiful, fierce omega.
"Hm? Of course I will." Granted, Percy has never had a pregnant partner before (not that he knows of), but he can't imagine the changes will keep him from desiring Essek. He presses a kiss to the top of his husband's head and lazily strokes up and down his back.
"I know there'll be changes, but I can't imagine those changing the way I feel." A more wolfish grin flashes across his face and Percy slides down so that he can press a kiss against Essek's sternum, then lower on his stomach.
"In fact... I'm quite looking forward to seeing you swell with a baby," he admits. Percy closes his eyes and breathes deep, savoring his mate's scent and the warmth of his skin.
There's the answer he was hoping for, and then some. Essek sighs, soft and pleased, as Percy moves to kiss his way down his body, expressing his appreciation for the way it looks now and the way it will look in the future, sooner or later. The muscles beneath the slight softness of Essek's flat stomach tighten under the exploration of his husband's mouth, and Essek's sharp incisors scrape over his lower lip.
"That is reassuring." He blinks slowly, eyes half-lidded, and lifts a hand to push his fingers through Percival's hair, nails scratching lightly against his scalp. "But I thought as much." His lips curl in a knowing little smile. "I think you will be doing exactly this several months from now, when my belly is just beginning to grow. I think that when you see how my body changes because you bred me, you won't be able to keep your hands off me."
Watching him nuzzle against his stomach now is telling enough. There is much Essek anticipates enjoying about this himself--how Percival will look at him foremost. "And I look forward to your thorough appreciation."
Percy groans quietly as Essek talks. He mouths over his husband's stomach, enamored with him and the thought Essek plants in his head. Breeding, growing, family, his. He move his head and drags his teeth lightly over Essek's hip.
"I have no intention of keeping my hands off you," he confirms quietly. "You will be thoroughly appreciated in every room in Whitestone."
He grins against his husband's skin and peers up at him. He adores the feel of his fingers in his hair, the gentle scratch of his manicured nails. Percy tries not to let his mind wander too far, his mother's pregnancies not very far from his mind. How happy his father had been, how proud, how eager to welcome new little de Rolos to the family.
Percival rests his cheek against Essek's hip.
"You know I'm wrapped around your fingers, darling. Anything you want, you'll have."
There's a soft hum from Essek at the scrape of teeth against his hip, and a gentle tremor through his body as their eyes meet this way. His hand lifts to cup Percival's cheek fondly as the other continues to scratch through his hair. That grin is handsome and endearing. In his husband's face he can see hope and excitement and love and reverence, and that is only on the surface. So many reasons to be glad he's chosen this path.
"I expect no less, as I will be the one doing all of the work," he teases, smiling just enough for a glimpse at his fangs.
But he can't let such a provocative (and entertaining) comment pass without remark. "Every room, dear one? Ambitious, even for you." He isn't arguing. In fact, he finds it charming. Trust Percival to make a bold claim to assure him of his continued desire.
"I am an ambitious man, Essek Thelyss," he murmurs. Percy gets his arm around Essek's hips. "And I adore you."
And he's a very determined man when he wants to be, which his husband has surely seen glimpses of by this point. He leans into Essek's touch, seeking that affection as they lay quietly, recovering and enjoying the quiet between taking care of Essek's urgent needs.
It occurs to him that he should probably rest when he can, otherwise Essek will have an attentive-but-cranky alpha on his hands.
That very ambition and determination is part of what Essek so loves and admires about his husband. It had drawn him in from the beginning, and to have it focused on him is a heady thing. He smiles to himself, preening a little with the praise and attention, and pushes his fingers deeper into Percy's hair, scraping with more pressure before he allows them to slip away entirely.
"Come here," he says, and pats the bed beside him. "As good as you look down there, I want to hold you."
Essek is thinking similarly. There is no telling how long these lulls will last, and Percival should take advantage of the opportunity to regain his strength--and stamina. The only thing that is certain is that Essek will need him again, and he doesn't wish to wear his poor mate down.
Percy tips his head down to press a parting kiss to Essek's hip, then slowly climbs back up the bed. He draws his husband into his arms and into a kiss. The scent of his mate is still intoxicating and he wants to bury his face against Essek's neck.
"Wake me when you need me, darling" he murmurs, allowing himself to feel tired. Changing back from a wolf always takes it out of him, and going straight from that to Whitestone and a mate still in heat... Can anyone blame him? Percy shifts so that he can drag a blanket over them, determined to keep Essek warm.
